Job Description / Duties

The Department of Music invites applications for two tenure track Assistant Professor of Voice positions beginning August 2014. The department seeks a tenor, baritone, or bass for the first position and a soprano, mezzo-soprano, or alto for the second position.

Responsibilities include: teach applied voice and other courses assigned by the chair relative to the candidate’s area of specialization, such as vocal pedagogy, opera workshop, diction, vocal literature; participate actively in student recruitment and performance; and serve on departmental and university committees. Depending upon credentials, either candidate may be eligible for the Tom and Christine Neyer Family Endowed Professorship of Music.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Master's degree and demonstrated record of professional accomplishment that predicts future national and/or international recognition required. Doctorate or ABD preferred. Candidate should have a proven record of effective voice teaching at the collegiate level, exhibit strong teaching skills, and show willingness to continue the development of her/his professional stature as a performer. Career goals should include work with professional ensembles and/or productions.
