Job Description / Duties

Assistant Professor, tenure-track. Teach studio voice, diction for singers (incorporating IPA), vocal literature, and other courses depending on the needs of the department and the candidate’s expertise. Participation in departmental activities is expected, including performance in recitals, recruiting, and committee assignments.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Earned doctorate or equivalent professional experience (ABD considered). Demonstrated artistry in vocal performance. Record of successful studio teaching at the undergraduate level and ability to teach courses in vocal literature and foreign language diction. Strong commitment to recruitment. Piano skills suitable for studio and classroom teaching. An understanding of the needs of undergraduate music performance and music education majors.

Preferred Qualifications: Soprano, Mezzo, or Contralto; ability to teach opera scenes workshop and/or direct a choral ensemble; ability to teach a vocal pedagogy course.
