Job Description / Duties

Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America’s most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts seeks to hire a Instructor of Voice and Opera Workshop. This position will concentrate on high voice (soprano and alto), and to teach Opera workshop. The Instructor of Voice and Opera Workshop will be expected to provide appropriate evaluation, grading, attendance and evaluations of student progress as required by the music department. This position also requires the Instructor to communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration.

Other responsibilities include teaching one-on-one voice lessons, assisting students in college audition preparation and having the resources available to guide students in the college application process. During the Opera workshop class students will be focusing on small scene work based upon development and ability.

Qualifications / Required Skills

-A teacher of national reputation with extensive experience teaching Voice and Opera workshop.
-An understanding of repertoire and audition preparation for students to enter college or conservatory.
-An experienced and highly qualified singer with proven ability in recital and stage voice.
-Thorough grounding in languages and diction.
-A specialist in high voice (soprano and alto)
-A thorough understanding of the repertoire and an ability to match repertoire to developing voices.
-A focus on healthy voice and tone production for young students.
