Job Description / Duties

This tenure tack position begins Fall 2017. Assignments will include: Provide individual private vocal instruction and coaching for music theatre performance majors; teach vocal ensemble class; serve as liaison with the School of Music Voice Area; provide the MTP Program with administrative assistance; and provide vocal direction for productions and numerous university events. Recruitment and service appropriate for a university faculty member required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications: Masters degree plus three years university teaching experience required. The ideal candidate, who will oversee the vocal architecture of the Music Theatre Performance program, brings experience as a vocal coach on music theatre productions as well as experience as a vocal instructor for professional music theatre artists working in the music theatre industry. A solid ability to teach and demonstrate vocal technique in classical voice, traditional Broadway repertoire, contemporary Broadway repertoire, as well as pop, rock, country and jazz is required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to diagnose and correct physiological and technical issues that effect young singers. The candidate should bring recent professional performance experience. The ability to create original, contemporary vocal arrangements for ensemble showcase performances is also highly valued.
