Job Description / Duties

The successful candidate will teach classes in the Music curriculum including Studio instruction (Applied voice), Voice Class, Voice Seminar, Voice Fundamentals, Song Interpretation, Song Literature, Lyric Diction, Music Theatre/Opera Workshop and multicultural General Education courses to a diverse student population. The successful candidate will supervise senior voice recitals. The successful candidate will have a commitment to, and experience in teaching a variety of musical styles, as they pertain to the voice. The successful candidate will be expected to recruit new students from surrounding communities. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to the university. The successful candidate will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and performance. Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in music from an accredited university by August 31, 2013
- Evidence of two years of college or university teaching experience
- Evidence of scholarly potential (performances, conference presentations, publications or compositions, grant development)
- Evidence of ability to work with and mentor a diverse student population
- Active membership in relevant professional associations

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Significant professional experience in voice
- Evidence of collaborative activities as a performer
- Evidence of successful teaching in both the classical and contemporary commercial music styles
- Evidence of experience in directing musical and/or operatic productions
