Application Requirements
An applicant must be a member of NATS in good standing with no more than five years of full-time teaching or the part-time equivalent. Working as a graduate teaching assistant does not count towards the five-year limit. Holding a Master's Degree or higher is preferable but not required.

- Completed application form (available in electronic version at http://intern.nats.org. Résumé. Save the file as 2013Intern-LastName-FirstName-Resume.DOC (or PDF).
- Two recommendation letters from NATS members in good standing, specifically addressing the applicant's teaching. Save the files as 2013-Intern-LastName-FirstName-Rec1.DOC (or PDF) and 2013-Intern-LastName-FirstName-Rec2.DOC (or PDF).
- A brief essay (3-5 paragraphs) addressing the applicant's teaching philosophy and motivation for participating in the program. Save the file as 2013-Intern-LastName-FirstName-Essay.DOC (or PDF).
- A web link to a recording of the applicant singing in at least three languages, including English. At least one selection must be with piano accompaniment. Video recordings are strongly preferred; audio recordings are acceptable. Audio-only MP3 files under 5MB in size may be attached to email to

- A web link to a video recording, no more than fifteen minutes in duration, of a sample lesson taught by the applicant. This video may be an edited excerpt from a longer lesson.
All recordings must be posted to a website, such as YouTube, that is accessible to the selection committee (if a video is password protected, be sure to include the appropriate login credentials to view the post). Independent studio teachers should include at least one non-classical song, and all applicants are invited to do so if this literature is in their performing and/or teaching repertoire. NO CD, DVD, or cassette recordings will be accepted.
How To Upload Video for Private Sharing
We understand that you may not want to share your audition files with the general public. Many video sharing websites allow you to upload your media and make it accessible only to those with the link. While we can not provide technical support for these sites, we hope that these simple steps may be sufficient to familiarize yourself with the options on YouTube.
- After logging in to your YouTube account, click on the Upload link (in the upper left corner of the screen).
- Click on Upload Video.
- As your video is being uploaded, select Unlisted from the Privacy section under Video information and privacy settings.
- Click Save Changes.
- The privacy settings can be changed at any time.

Other Online File Sharing Options
If you have only audio files for the singing portion of your application, you may attach an MP3 file (up to 5MB) to an email to

. Alternately, you can use other file sharing options online. Be sure to test your link before submitting to NATS. We did a Google search for "free file sharing websites" and found a few options to help you decide which one will work best for you. Some services permit large video files to be shared.
