Job Description / Duties

The John J. Cali School of Music seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the area of Voice (mezzo soprano or tenor preferred, but all voice types considered). This position will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate applied voice. Depending on credentials, other teaching responsibilities may include vocal literature, pedagogy, diction, opera, etc. The John J. Cali School of Music currently maintains an enrollment of approximately 450 music majors, including 160 voice majors in performance, music education, music therapy, music composition, and musical theater. The formation of new voice area curricula combined with significantly increased enrollment during the past four years, presents an exciting opportunity for the incumbent of this position to help in shaping the future of a voice program with a rich tradition of excellence.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Doctorate in music or equivalent professional experience, in addition to successful experience teaching at an advanced level. Candidates must show evidence of strong leadership in the area of voice or opera, and must possess a commitment to the teaching and recruitment of high-caliber students. Candidates must demonstrate substantial professional experience in the area of voice or opera. Exemplary musicianship, innovative pedagogical skills, and evidence of ongoing performance or scholarship are required.
