Job Description / Duties

Studio teaching of undergraduate and graduate voice majors in all degree and diploma programs; potential teaching of departmental courses, including diction, undergraduate opera workshop, and doctoral-level song literature, if candidate’s interest and qualifications warrant. Service on Jacobs School committees and participation in departmental meetings, hearings, auditions, recruitment activities and doctoral advisory committees is expected. The search and screen committee may recommend the appointment of several faculty under this description.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Completed master’s degree required by the starting date of the appointment (August 1, 2017), doctorate preferred; equivalent professional experience will be given equal consideration. Senior applicants should possess a national/international record of strong teaching as evidenced by his/her students’ accomplishments, their admission to graduate degrees, and successful entry into the professional arena; junior applicants should demonstrate an emerging national reputation for successful teaching.

Additional Information

The search committee will consider both junior and senior applicants; appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, as appropriate; ten-month, tenured or tenure-track position. For tenure-track appointees: initial three-year appointment followed by annual appointments upon successful reappointment reviews; tenure decision in the sixth year after initial appointment.

Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
