Job Description / Duties

Teaching responsibilities include private vocal instruction and additional assignments in class voice for actors, basic music theory, basic keyboarding skills, and intro to theatre based on the candidate’s skills and interest.

Qualifications / Required Skills

M.Mus. or M.F.A. degree (minimum) required. The Department of Theatre & Dance seeks a dynamic voice teacher to join a growing musical theatre program. Successful candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and the ability to coach students in a wide range of Musical Theatre styles from golden age to modern while instilling a solid foundation of classical technique. Keyboarding skill sufficient to teach lessons without a full-time accompanist is essential, advanced piano skills are desirable but not required.

The Department offers the B.F.A. degree in Design, Performance, Musical Theatre and Dance as well as the M.F.A. degree in Design & Technical Production and in Directing. The performance spaces are supported with a complement of on-site production shops equipped with modern technology. The Department consists of thirteen faculty, including four in the area of design and production, and five staff persons.
