Job Description / Duties

Oakton is looking for qualified music faculty beginning in the Fall 2017 semester to teach Applied Voice and Direct and Conduct a Choir with future possibility of teaching class voice and applied conducting.

Applied Voice offers private study in voice.

Part-time applied music faculty are paid on an hourly basis at $48.00 per hour for the applied music sessions.

Part-time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule with the successful completion of 2 fall & spring semesters where the equivalent of 3+ credit hours are taught in each semester.

Qualifications / Required Skills

A Master's degree in Music in vocal performance with prior teaching experience in voice, and prior experience in conducting and directing a choir or a bachelor's degree with professional experience as a vocalist are required.

Prior college teaching experience in Applied Voice and prior college experience in Conducting and Directing a Choir are preferred.

Part-time faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis. A reasonable effort is made to assure the assignment of courses to more senior part-time faculty who are fully qualified by virtue of their education, training, work experience as related to current technology and pedagogical techniques, and who have had a history of successful performance at Oakton Community College.

All assignments are conditioned on sufficient enrollment. Once a course starts, the part time faculty member is expected to complete the course.
