Job Description / Duties

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR. Wingate University, a private residential university with a liberal arts core located near Charlotte, North Carolina, announces a full-time, continuing position of Assistant Professor in Voice to begin August 2018. Male voice types encouraged to apply.
An earned doctorate (D.M.A.) in Music from accredited institution required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. Candidates will demonstrate successful teaching at the college/university level; knowledge and skill in performance, voice teaching and vocal health; and a comprehensive knowledge of standard vocal literature. Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students, who have experience with successful recruitment strategies, and who have the ability to contribute to the liberal arts agenda of the university.
Initial teaching responsibilities include studio voice with possible assignments in vocal literature, class voice, vocal pedagogy, and/or opera workshop. In addition, the successful candidate will maintain a performing career both at Wingate University and regionally and engage in service-related activities.
