Job Description / Duties

The John J. Cali School of Music seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the area of Voice (all voice types considered). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate applied voice. In addition, depending upon areas of interest and expertise, the candidate filling this position will teach select undergraduate and graduate courses in the voice area, such as vocal literature, diction, pedagogy, opera workshop, etc. This voice faculty member will be an active recruiter of high-caliber voice students and will maintain an active scholarly profile as a performer and/or researcher in areas related to the discipline of voice. The John J. Cali School of Music currently has an enrollment of approximately 450 music majors, including 160 voice majors in performance, music education, music therapy, music composition, and musical theater. Fresh revisions to the curricula of the voice program, combined with recent increases in enrollment, present an exciting opportunity for the right individual to help to shape the future of a voice program with a rich tradition of excellence.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Doctorate in music or its equivalent in professional experience.
• Distinguished performing career in voice/opera at the national and/or international level.
• Strong record of success as a teacher of applied voice. Classical a must, additional non-classical a plus.
• Demonstrated aptitude for classroom teaching.
• Evidence of commitment to ongoing and sustained scholarly engagement in voice, whether as a performer or researcher in one or more voice-related sub-disciplines (e.g., vocal literature, diction, repertoire, performance practice, voice science, and pedagogy, etc.).
• Firm commitment to recruiting high-caliber students.
• Demonstrated organizational, collaborative, and administrative skills to support the operation of a complex and growing program in voice.

SALARY RANGE Commensurate with experience.
