Job Description / Duties

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR- APPLIED VOICE - (tenure-track position) to begin August 2018. Primary responsibilities include applied voice instruction, classroom teaching, and active recruiting of music majors and performers. REQUIRED: Doctorate in Music with emphasis in voice performance, vocal pedagogy, or vocal music education; significant professional experience as a vocalist; demonstrated success teaching applied voice at the college level; and piano skills sufficient to conduct lessons without an accompanist. PREFERRED: Performance experience in classical musical and musical theatre (or another contemporary commercial genre); pedagogical methodology incorporating classical and contemporary commercial vocal styles, especially musical theatre; and experience teaching any of the following courses: Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop, Class Voice, Vocal Methods, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Literature, Singers’ Diction, Elementary/Secondary Music Methods, and/or other specialized courses. The successful candidate should possess a strong commitment to teaching, advising and mentoring undergraduate students in an open-enrollment institution committed to applied learning, while remaining dedicated to sustained creative and scholarly activity.
