Responsibilities

Direct mainstage operas

Teach opera workshop classes, in collaboration with music director/pianist

Teach seminar in opera directing and/or other opera courses as expertise and interest allow

Oversee opera budget, in collaboration with the conservatory finance manager

Coordinate design process and all production personnel for the mainstage operas, in collaboration with the theater department

Coordinate mainstage repertoire selection process, in collaboration with voice faculty, opera staff and theater personnel

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications

Outstanding record of professional experience as an opera director
Advanced degree in opera theater, theater, or equivalent experience

Experience as a lyric theater director or equivalent performance experience; musical and linguistic expertise

Practical knowledge of theater technology
Experience teaching acting and/or movement to singers

Demonstrated success in working effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff and students
