Job Description / Duties

The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking an Instructor of Voice and Opera with a growing national reputation as a teacher, performer, and stage director. This is a renewable Instructor appointment. Primary duties will be to teach students in applied voice at the undergraduate level, assist with the teaching of the opera workshop curriculum and other teaching duties as needed, assist with stage direction of productions, and maintain activity as a performer/stage director/scholar at the regional/national level. The position is full time - a three-year renewable contract with excellent benefits.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Soprano or mezzo-soprano preferred, but all voice types considered. Successful teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred. Documented performing experience at a professional level with appropriate terminal degrees earned. (Master’s Degree required, DMA preferred, although significant and documented teaching and performance experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.)
