Job Description / Duties

Heartland Sings is seeking singers of all voice types to join its core of full-time Principal Vocal Artists. This group performs music from a variety of genres, including jazz, pop, musical theater, opera, and a cappella. Principal Vocal Artists also perform oratorios, new compositions, and other choral works with the larger choral ensemble. Job includes solos, outreach events, rehearsals, program development, and weekly performances.

In addition, there is a substantial education component to this opportunity. Artists will be trained to use arts integrated lessons to teach Language Arts in classrooms during an Arts Integrated Residency program that culminates with the creation and performance of student-led operas. Principal Vocal Artists also teach private lessons, perform masterclasses, and offer a variety of workshops for aspiring singers.

Principal Vocal Artists are expected to relocate to Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum undergraduate degree in music with evidence of significant performance experience. Preferred master’s degree or higher, and recording experience.

Heartland Sings has immediate vacancies for bass and mezzo-soprano and anticipates having openings for all voice parts in late 2020. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
