The National Association of Teachers of Singing is pleased to share the 2026 “Let It Be New” concert, featuring the world premieres of 10 new works created by participants in the 2025-26 NATS Mentoring Program for Composers.
Released online June 28, the concert represents the culmination of approximately eight months of mentorship, creativity and collaboration. Each of the 10 emerging and early-career composers selected for the program was paired with an established composer for one-to-one mentoring from November through June.
During their time together, mentors offered guidance tailored to the needs and interests of each composer. Their work could include reviewing compositions, discussing the unique considerations of writing for the voice, recommending resources, exploring performance and publishing opportunities, and serving as a trusted sounding board throughout the creative process.

As a special feature of the program, NATS commissions a new song from each composer mentee. Cincinnati Song Initiative then brings those works to life through professional performances in an annual “Let It Be New” concert.
The partnership provides the composers with something especially meaningful: the opportunity to hear their newly created works performed and shared with audiences around the world.
