What's New > New opportunity for composers at NATS National Conference

NATS is pleased to announce an exciting pilot program for composers at the 59th NATS National Conference, July 3-7, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.
New Works for Voice: A Composer Showcase is a newly designed session that highlights living composers who are actively contributing to today’s vocal repertoire. This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of NATS to supporting the creation, visibility, and accessibility of new music for the voice.
This exhibit-style forum offers a dynamic and interactive platform for composers to introduce their work directly to the vocal community. Composer participants will have the opportunity to share recordings, video excerpts, and score samples while engaging in meaningful conversations with attendees. Rather than a traditional presentation format, this showcase encourages dialogue between singers and composers, the discovery of new repertoire, and meaningful connections.
It is currently scheduled for Saturday, July 4 at 3:30 p.m. (immediately following the NATS Art Song Composition Award Winners’ Recital).
“This pilot program represents an exciting step forward in connecting composers with the broader NATS community,” said NATS Executive Director Melissa Greenblatt. “By creating space for direct engagement, it supports innovation, collaboration, and the continued evolution of vocal repertoire benefiting all member types, including professional voice teachers, students, collaborative pianists, and affiliate members.”
Composers interested in participating are encouraged to apply and to share this opportunity with colleagues who may also be a good fit.
Space is limited. Submission deadline is Friday, April 24 at midnight ET.
