Natural Pathways with Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin - Hosted by MN-NATS and the UM-Twin Cities School of Music
Renowned artist-teacher and clinician Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin will present an all-day workshop in Minneapolis, hosted by MN-NATS and the UM-Twin Cities School of Music. The creator of Soul Ingredients® and faculty at Berklee College of Music, Dr. Trineice is dedicated to the performance and voice pedagogy of Black American music styles. Dr. Trineice is the executive director of the African American Jazz Caucus, board vice president for the Jazz Education Network, editorial board member for the Journal of Singing, and a member of the distinguished American Academy of Teachers of Singing.
Workshop participants will learn practical techniques for helping classically-trained singers authentically sing jazz, gospel, musical theater and contemporary commercial music. Bonus: Participants will try out the exercises in a group setting, learning
by doing it themselves.

-- Morning lecture: How to translate classical pedagogy into other genres, and how to identify common parameters.
-- Afternoon lecture/demonstration: Style Conditioning explained and contrasted with general voice training; examples of style conditioning exercises for jazz, gospel, musical theater and contemporary styles.
-- Afternoon interactive session: Application of conditioning exercises and parameters to songs; group coaching; wrap-up and homework.
