Title: Private Voice Teacher

Bio: A member of the Professional Women's Singer's Association and formerly a member of the voice faculty at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, Ms. von Goerken has been an active voice teacher for many years. In addition to maintaining private vocal studios on both the east and west coasts, she has given numerous master classes in this country and abroad. During her sojourn as a member of the voice faculty at Adelphi University on Long Island, Ms. von Goerken-Zinser created and directed the Adelphi Opera Workshop and Opera Theatre of Adelphi. Anneliese has a number of highly talented students who have received full or partial scholarships to major in music and theatre at Adelphi and other prestigious universities around the country. Anneliese was Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and MacAllister Opera Awards, 2013 National Finalist for the American Prize in Opera, and 2012 National Finalist for the American Prize in Art Song. Roles include Queen of the Night, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Mrs. Grose in the 2022 Schenectady Symphony Orchestra's production of Britten's Turn of the Screw. Praised in the New York Times, “…had presence as the Countess”, she made her debut as Donna Elvira in 2011, substituting for an ailing singer on six days notice. A passionate recitalist, appearances include guest artist at the East Texas Pipe Organ Festival, Carmina Burana (PBS), Vier Letzte Lieder (Adelphi Orchestra) and concerts in England. Engagements include Belleayre Music Festival, Bronx Opera, Bremerton Symphony, Washington-Idaho Symphony, Hubbard Hall Opera and Schenectady Symphony Orchestra. Heard in concert in the U.S. and England, an interest in contemporary literature has led to a number of premieres by contemporary composers. Ms. von Goerken-Zinser teaches private voice, class voice, audition and performance techniques, Broadway ‘Belt’ techniques, Diction for Singers, International Phonetic Alphabet, Opera History, Opera Workshop, Cabaret Workshop, breathing seminars, and private coaching in ear-training and sight-singing. Lessons combine an enthusiastic, affirming teaching style with vocal techniques designed to help the student learn to safely produce a more beautiful sound. Students will work on developing their vocal range utilizing exercises specifically designed to address individual technical problems, diction and performance skills.
