Bio: Since 1990, the voice studios of Dorothy Duensing have provided top-quality experienced music teaching and a commitment to the highest standards of professional services as a master teacher of private voice (Beg.-Adv.), piano and drama lessons. In addition, Dorothy Duensing is Professor of Voice (part-time) at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI since 1999. She is Director of DTE Singers (formerly Detroit Edison Glee Club) which meets May - December on Mondays from 4:30’PM - 6:30’PM in the Choir Room of First United Methodist Church in Birmingham, MI; a "freelance" Music Minister/Organist/Adult Choir Director, Professional Mezzo-Soprano/Contralto Soloist/Section Leader for Metropolitan United Methodist Church and Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit, MI and Temple Israel of West Bloomfield, MI’s High Holiday’s services. Dorothy is also a Teacher of Private Voice (Beg.-Adv.), Piano (Beg.-Int.), Private Drama Lessons (K-Adulthood), and Trained Adjudicator for Vocal Solo and Ensemble Festivals, Competitions, Workshops & Choir Retreats. Ms. Duensing is a Professional Singer (Mezzo Soprano), Professional Actor, Professional Vocalist for All Occasions, Recording Artist and Performing Artist. Dorothy Duensing holds both the Master of Music from The University of Michigan and the Bachelor of Music from Indiana University in Vocal Performance. Dorothy Duensing is a Certified through June 30, 2024 by the State of Michigan as a Professional Teacher in K-12 Music (JX) and 7-12 Speech (BD), which includes her ability to teach classes in Drama and Public Speaking. She holds Orff Schulwerk Music Certifications in Levels 1, 2 and 3, the Basic Diploma in Music Ministry (Organ) from Sacred Heart Major Seminary, and full Memberships in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), American Guild of Organists (AGO) Detroit & Ann Arbor Chapters, Sigma Alpha Iota - International Professional Music Fraternity's Detroit Alumnae Chapter, the Tuesday Musicale of Detroit and P.E.O. Sisterhood's Chapter AU of Northville, MI. She is married to Daniel M.
