Bio: MARY SAUNDERS BARTON Mary Saunders Barton is a Penn State Professor Emeritus, currently residing in NYC where she maintains a private voice studio. She is an adjunct professor in the musical theatre program at Montclair State University. At Penn State, Mary created an MFA in Musical Theatre Voice Pedagogy with colleague Norman Spivey with whom she co-authored the book “Cross-Training in the Voice Studio: A Balancing Act”. Her students have been seen on Broadway in Wicked, Book of Mormon, Beautiful, Chicago, Pippin, Kinky Boots, Mamma Mia, School of Rock, Bandstand, Beetlejuice, Ain’t Too Proud, My Fair Lady, Paradise Square, Moulin Rouge, The Music Man, Merrily We Roll Along, and Shucked, to name a few. She has produced two video tutorials available on her website at www.belcantocanbelto.com. Mary is a 2018 recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University. She is chair of the American Academy of Teachers of Singing.
