Bio: I have been teaching now for upwards of 20 years privately through my studio in NJ and also in NYC - www.ladolcediva.com. I also continue to perform, which I feel only helps me stay connected to the experiences my students are having in their lives. As of 10/8/22 I have won an Accomplished Artist Award from the Camille Coloratura Awards! As a Latina singer, I make sure to continue to expand my repertoire of Spanish art songs and zarzuela. I am a brand ambassador for Zarzuela USA which seeks to educate opera singers in the US about this wonderful repertoire. For myself and for my studio, I collect music from diverse backgrounds and languages so my singers have repertoire that is varied, relatable and often brand new! I just graduated from Teachers College this June 2022 with a Masters in Music and Music Education. When I train a voice, I do not espouse a one-size-fits-all way of teaching. Everyone gets an approach I feel will be of best use for them. I have a vast array of exercise that I have collected over my years of study. Some come from published pedagogy like Garcia, Lamberti, Vaccai, or Reid. Others come from my mentors or teachers. I have taken workshops and seminars with Lovetri and Dr. Bradley Williard and with the Musical Athlete, where I have gotten valuable skills for applying body work to singing technique. I incorporate al of these approaches as needed. My students report increased confidence and ease in their techniques across genres.
