Bio: Dr. McKelvey serves as the Interim Head of Musical Theatre and Professor of Practice in Voice at Tulane University. In addition to his university responsibilities, he is also the Artistic Director of Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane. Prior to moving to New Orleans, Michael was the Head of Voice and an Associate Professor at the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA and the Coordinator of Music and Director of Musical Theatre at St. Edward's University in Austin, Tx. In addition to his voice teaching, he is an award-winning stage and music director, choral conductor, and opera and musical theatre lecturer and coach. As a performer, his career spans opera, musical theatre, straight theatre and popular music. As a vocal instructor, he specializes in musical theatre and contemporary commercial music styles and technique.
