Title: Voice Teacher

Bio: Dr. J. Adam Shelton is an opera singer by trade and a country singer by hear. At home in multiple genres, his career highlights include operatic roles in English, Italian, French, musical theatre, drag, tuxedos, and cowboy boots. A graduate of UW-Madison, Adam has a killer sweet tea recipe that he blends with his unique perspective on elevating queer voices in country music. Reviewers and fans alike note his “fine tenor flamboyance” and how he is “Effortlessly hilarious… like Harvey Feirstein with pitch.” As a pedagogue, he teaches at the collegiate level at Edgewood College in Madison, WI and maintains the Shelton Private Voice Studio. He trains singers from bel canto to Broadway, Mozart to metal with students cutting albums, touring internationally, and even singing in the church choir. In 2022 he launched a singing course with Spectre Digital Academy in collaboration with Ty Christian of Lords of the Trident and is launching another course in 2024 focused on distortion techniques. Future projects include: music directing The Wedding Singer, an EP of original songs misrepresenting his family, and a deserved trip to Aruba.
