Title: Voice Teacher

Bio:

A Montreal-born artist with multicultural roots, Amanda Mabro is a critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter, vocalist, voice teacher and performance artist. With a career that has spanned over 20 years, she is known for her powerful, genre-bending, engaging performances that have excited and enamoured international audiences, from the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Brussels Opera House to OSHEAGA and the Toronto Jazz Festival. She has shared stages with Celine Dion, Arcade Fire, Franz Ferdinand, Raul Midon, Vanessa Carlton, among others; and has collaborated on production and songwriting with Canadian icon Ron Sexsmith, Juno winning producers Rob Szabo and Tim Abraham, as well as a long list of some of North America’s top musicians. Her latest forays into pop music also include lending her voice on countless studio sessions as well as her work in well received Electro-Alternative duo 30 Frames.

As a private voice teacher and performance instructor for Carleton University, she has coached countless emerging and award winning singer-songwriters, actors and comedians. She has also collaborated on various workshops and research with fellow colleagues in the field, in addition to collaborating with speech pathologists, music therapists, and yogis. Now based in Ottawa, Amanda continues to work with students internationally both in person and on-line. Whether in studio, a workshop, a master class, or a private lesson, she has acted as a guide, helping her students to tune into their senses, find and free their real voice, free their creative spirit and prevent vocal injuries. She has been described as an astute teacher with a deep understanding of the physiology and mechanics of voice, a finely tuned sensitivity to her student’s needs, and the ability to communicate with clarity and precision. Amanda is consistent in creating a relaxed learning environment in which students can be vulnerable, and where constructive feedback is thoughtfully given. Students will learn to develop a harmonious balance between vocal technique and creativity, enabling them to get that much closer to their true potential.
