Bio:

Dr. David Kozisek is on faculty at Gustavus Adolphus College, MacPhail Center for Music, and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and holds degrees from Interlochen Arts Academy, DePauw University, University of Michigan, and University of Minnesota. Before relocating to Minneapolis, he appeared frequently at the Kennedy Center with the Washington National Opera, Washington Chorus, Washington Concert Opera, Cathedral Choral Society, and the National Symphony Orchestra among others. David performed with the Shakespeare Theatre Company and in various theatrical programs at Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. David is also the Director of Music and Worship at Hamline Church United Methodist in St. Paul where he conducts a variety of ensembles and curates and produces their Music and Arts Series.

Dr. Kozisek believes that anyone can sing and is committed to helping modern singers develop a balanced, healthy vocal technique that is adaptable across musical styles and settings. His students regularly perform leading roles in operas and musicals and are active participants in All-State Choirs, Honors Recitals, and prestigious summer Young Artist Programs. Other student achievements include the Interlochen Arts Camp’s Joseph Maddy Award for Musical Theatre, Hennepin Theatre Trust Spotlight’s Triple Threat Award, Gustavus’ Concerto and Aria Competition winners, and placement at the Minnesota NATS student competition. Dr. Kozisek’s students have been accepted to study at Julliard, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota’s Guthrie Theatre BFA, Carnegie Mellon, Pace, Rutgers, Vasser, DePauw University, Boston University, University of Colorado Bolder, and the North Carolina School for the Arts.
