Desiree Maira is thrilled to teach full-time after a fulfilling performance career along the east coast of the United States. Recent performance highlights include covering Francesca in The Bridges of Madison County in Media, Pennsylvania and being a featured soloist in the Duke Ellington Sacred Concert with the DuPont Clifford Jazz Festival in Wilmington, Delaware. Musical theater performance credits include The Music Man, Godspell, Into the Woods, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Cinderella, Annie, Beauty and the Beast and more. Once an avid performer of opera (and oratoria), Desiree’s favorite roles to sing were the title roles in Carmen, L’Italiana in Algeri and Serse, Madame in Cendrillon, Second and Third Lady in The Magic Flute, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, and Mistress Quickly in Falstaff.
Desiree formerly served as musical theatre faculty at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee and currently teaches at University of the Arts online. She holds a master’s degree in opera performance from The Boston Conservatory and a bachelor’s in vocal performance from Stetson University, as well as a teaching certification from New York Vocal Coaching. She is also a certified mental health technician and offers private voice lessons and coachings within her studio, The Song-Heart Connection.
