Elizabeth Lepock

Bio: Elizabeth Lepock, soprano local to Kitchener-Waterloo, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice from the University of Western Ontario where she studied both singing and vocal pedagogy at the masters level with Torin Chiles, and at the doctoral level with Dr. Sophie Roland. During her DMA, in addition to honing her performance and pedagogy skills she pursued ground-breaking research into the voice disorder Primary Muscle Tension Dysphonia. Elizabeth's passion for music includes a voracious desire to learn, a love for performing, and a nurturing attitude towards her students, while always attempting to challenge both them and herself. Her varied teaching experience includes a positions as the Choir, Voice, and Musical Directors, as well as Camp Director over her six years on faculty at Ontario Mennonite Music Camp, Conrad Grebel University College. Her masters and doctoral studies led to positions as teaching assistant for such diverse subjects as music history, opera workshop, and Schenkerian analysis for performers. As a university instructor, Dr. Lepock currently teaches vocal pedagogy and foundational vocal techniques. Elizabeth has also served as a clinician in local masterclasses and competitions. She maintains a large studio of voice and piano students, increasingly young professional singers, and singers in need of retraining after experiencing vocal dysfunction/muscle tension dysphonia. Elizabeth's latest operatic roles include Governess in Grand River Opera's production of Britten's Turn of the Screw, Armida in AEDO's 2015 production of Handel's Rinaldo in Lucca, Italy, the title role in London's Opera2Go's production of The Stupendous Adventure of Gregory Green, First Spirit in Opera Kitchener's October 2011 production of The Magic Flute, and Pied Person in Peter Hatch's MyAudia, a new opera produced by Inter Arts Matrix and performed at Stratford Summer Music Festival and at Les Escales Improbables in Montreal. Also an avid recitalist, Elizabeth has featured in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Noon Recital Series, Cambridge Galleries Concert Series, Conrad Grebel University College Noon Recital Series, and Wilfrid Laurier University Noon Recital Series. As an oratorio performer, Elizabeth is known for her detailed attention to stylistic choices, her silvery tone quality, and most of all, for her thoughtful and passionate delivery of story and text.
