Bio: Praised as an athletic singer with brilliant coloratura, Colombian American soprano Cristina Foster has performed Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Baron Puck (Le Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein), Lucia (Rape of Lucretia) and Lady Angela (Patience). In scene productions Ms. Foster has appeared as Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Rosina (Le nozze di Figaro), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutti), and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). Ms. Foster’s concert appearances include Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Fauré’s Requiem and Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass. Ms. Foster earned her Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music (2012). Cristina received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Wheaton Conservatory. Cristina has studied and performed internationally with the Oberlin in Italy Program and Franco American Vocal Academy where she studied with coaches Enza Ferrari, Frederick Burchinal, and french composer Isabelle Aboulker. She most recently performed as a young artist with OperaWorks. Ms. Foster was a finalist in several Illinois and Chicago chapter NATS competitions and is an active member of the National Music Honor Society- Pi Kappa Lambda. In addition Ms. Foster is an active member of Opera on Tap, a national initiative to bring opera to the masses. In the past year, Ms. Foster premiered her own work for voice, piano & flute and continues to develop a growing interest in composition. As a forever student of music, Cristina’s motto is: “Making change is simply the culmination of pursuing the passion and art that are within you.” She believes that through the power of music we can truly make a difference in our world. Cristina Foster currently resides in Chicago, Illinois.
