Bio: Dr. Maggie Garrett is the owner and instructor of Bella Voce Voice Studio in Virginia Beach, VA. She was a Professor of Music, Voice at Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) in Arkansas from 2008 - 2025. Other collegiate teaching experience includes Lindsey Wilson College, Boyce College, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), where she pursued her DMA in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. She earned her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance at Indiana University - Bloomington (IU), and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She has performed with the Kentucky Opera, Piedmont Opera, Opera Carolina, and the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. With the SBTS Seminary Orchestra, she sang Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate, and Gliére's Concerto for Coloratura Soprano. No stranger to oratorio and chamber music, she has served as soprano soloist for Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Brahms's German Requiem, and several Bach cantatas. Her chamber performances include Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre with the IU New Music Ensemble and Baljinder Sekhon's Twelve Virtues with the OBU Percussion Ensemble. Her musical theatre credits include Sister Margaretta (The Sound of Music), Evil Queen Grimhilde (Disney's Descendants), Mrs. Phelps (Matilda), Mabel (Pirates of Penzance, and Mrs. Nordstrom (A Little Night Music). She has served as music director for the musicals, Little Women and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the opera Cendrillon (Viardot), which she also stage directed.
