Bio: Margo LeVae is an active voice teacher in the Vancouver Area. In addition to coaching a wide range of styles and levels, she prepares students for all levels of RCM voice exams, local festivals, and competitions. A versatile vocalist herself, Margo coaches the young to forever-young on healthy, stylistically correct vocal technique for their chosen repertoire She also coaches aspiring singers in beginner piano to improve their musicianship and aid singer-songwriters in the development of their craft. Professionally, Margo LeVae has been honoured as the winner of the 2013 Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra Clifford Poole Vocal Competition and returned as their soprano soloist for the Brahms Deutsches Requiem with the symphony March 2014. Summer of 2012 saw Margo performing the title role in Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos while training at the Opera Nuova program in Edmonton where she “more than managed the exposed title role...but also held the audience with subtler, more suggestive interpretive techniques” (Opera Canada). Margo’s past operatic roles include Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (2008), Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte (2009), The Mother in Hansel and Gretel (2010), Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi (2010), and Lady Billows in Albert Herring (2011) all with the UBC Opera Ensemble. In 2011, Margo appeared as Gianetta for The Vancouver Island Opera Society’s production of L’Elisir d’amore and as the Brothel Keeper in the world premiere of Shadow Catch—a newly commissioned chamber opera for The City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Celebration. Margo was a winner in the 2010 Vancouver Women’s Musical Society Vocal Competition and finalist in the 2009 UBC School of Music Concerto Competition. She holds a Master of Music in Opera from the University of British Columbia where her studies were made possible by a University Graduate Fellowship.
