Bio:

American tenor Chad Cygan has a professional performance background which includes opera, oratorio, musical theatre, recital work and pop music. He recently taught private voice, Musical Theatre Workshop, Chorus and group voice at Ohlone College.

Chad has performed as a soloist with the Juilliard Opera Center, Bronx Opera, Chelsea Opera, Light Opera of New York, Pocket Opera of New York, Opera Cooperative, Utopia Opera and the New York Fringe Festival. He has sung with the chorus of the Metropolitan Opera as well.

Chad was an Associate Professor of Music at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA and now serves as music faculty at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, NC. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Masters of Music Degree from the Juilliard School and is a doctoral candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center.

Despite his heavily classical background Chad is very familiar with musical theatre, pop and jazz vocal repertoire. He has vocal directed several musical theatre productions and regularly coaches pop and classical singers.

He is a certified teacher and has taught at the Juilliard School, City College of New York, Maine South High School the John A. Coleman School, PS 212 and was on the vocal faculty of Turtle Bay Music School.
