Bio: Emily Kondris Melgr - Soprano
A Lyric Coloratura Soprano, Ms. Melgr has performed the role of Yum-Yum in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado, the premier role of Laura Dean in Dr. David Volk’s contemporary opera Strange Fruit, and was a finalist in the Colorado/Wyoming Division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition. Ms. Melgr has also performed Mozart’s “Laudate Dominum", from Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339, and Debussy’s “Lia’s Aria” from L’Enfant de Prodigue. She has been been selected and participated in Master Classes with Jake Heggie, Composer-in-Residence with the Colorado Opera, and with Ms. Sharon Harms, a NYC Soprano who has sung under the baton of James Levine. Ms. Melgr has studied voice with Terri Covington, Gayle Grace, the late Barbara Beck, Rhonda York, and Judith DeRosa. Ms. Melgr owns Falcon Music Studios, LLC, where she offers instruction in voice, violin, and piano. She has also taught music, drama, and orchestra in the public schools. Ms. Melgr’s students consistently earn top honors and have been selected for the Lamont School of Music’s Summer Academy, the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra, District and State Honor Choirs, as well as performing at CMEA. Vocal students consistently perform leading roles in both school and community musical productions. Ms. Melgr has a BA in Linguistics & German from Brigham Young University, as well as her BA in Vocal Performance from Colorado State University Pueblo, and is Adjunct Voice Faculty at Pikes Peak Community College. She resides in Falcon, Colorado, with her family.
