Bio: Mezzo-soprano and music educator Cynthia L. Smith has performed recitals in the United States, Austria, India, and Switzerland. She has sung with Asheville Lyric Opera, Ball State Opera Theatre, Knoxville Opera, Marble City Opera, and Tennessee Tech Opera and Musical Theatre. Cynthia's favorite operatic performances include singing the roles of Donna Ribalda in P.D.Q Bach's The Stoned Guest and Dido in Dido and Æneas. In addition to performance, Cynthia is a researcher of music related to the Holocaust. As part of this research, she was awarded with a Fulbright US Student Award, where she studied the Theresienstadt compositions of Viktor Ullmann in Basel, Switzerland. Fomerly, she taught Western-classical music at KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, India. Her students successfully perform and study at a national level in India, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In 2021, Cynthia began teaching at Ball State University, Muncie, IN as Assistant Teaching Professor in Voice.
