Bio: Lynda Marshall holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Music with an emphasis in Music Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is currently a Professor of Voice at McKendree University and Choral Director at Civic Memorial High School and Trimpe Middle School in Bethalto, IL. Passionate about somatic education, she is completing her licensure with the Association for Body Mapping Education to help musicians enhance performance ease while preventing injury. With over 30 years of experience, Marshall has taught private voice and piano to all ages and accompanied choirs and soloists across the St. Louis/Metro-East area. Her students have been accepted into top music programs, including Northwestern University, Temple University, Berklee College of Music, Roosevelt University, DePaul University, and the University of North Texas. Many have earned scholarships for collegiate and European opera workshops, and some have gone on to perform on Broadway. Before her current role, Marshall was the choral director at Edwardsville High School from 1998 to 2015, where her choirs were selected to perform at IMEC three times under her leadership. She also served on the adjunct faculty at Greenville University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and was a full-time professor at Kaskaskia College from 2015 to 2023. An active clinician and adjudicator, Marshall has worked with regional and state music festivals in Illinois, Missouri, and Nevada. She has guest-conducted ILMEA All-District Festivals in Districts 5, 6, and 8 and served as choral director for the 2023 Illinois Ambassadors of Music European Tour. She is a member of NATS, ABME, IL-ACDA, and ILMEA.
