Bio: Stephen Burdsall, a Philadelphia-born singer and pedagogue, is a doctoral candidate in Vocal Performance & Literature at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is a student of Professors Nathan Gunn and Sarah Wigley. At UIUC, he serves as the Teaching Assistant for the department of Lyric Theatre, where he instructs a full studio of voice students, as well as a lecture on singing in musical theatre. Stephen also maintains a private voice studio in the C-U area. He has performed in opera, musical theatre, choral, and artsong recital programs. As a recitalist, Stephen is a fierce advocate for the creation and performance of new works with recent collaborations including composers Caleb Wayman and Ricky Ian Gordon. Stephen has also worked as a Music Director/Vocal Music Coach for Champaign-Urbana Drama Makers (Gypsy), Illinois Shakespeare Festival (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Class Act - Champaign (Mean Girls Jr.), and the University of Illinois Department of Theatre (Orlando).
