Title: Adjunct Professor of Voice

Bio: Soprano Rachelle Woolston holds a bachelor's degree in voice from Brigham Young University, as well as master's and doctoral degrees in voice from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She currently teaches adjunct voice, lyric diction, and vocal pedagogy at Ball State University. Previous university faculty positions include Marian University, the University of Texas Permian Basin, and Midland College. Dr. Woolston is a frequent performer of opera and recital in her home town of Indianapolis, as well as regionally and internationally. She recently sang the role of Angelica in the Varna Institute's production of Suor Angelica in Busseto, Italy, with whom she also sang the soprano solos in the Mozart Requiem. Other favorite roles include Violetta (La Traviata), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Adina (Elixir of Love), Queen of the Night (Magic Flute), Valencienne (Merry Widow), and Mother Abbess (Sound of Music). She frequently sings with Indianapolis Opera, both as a featured artist and in the opera chorus, and enjoys performing with the Indianapolis Symphony Pops, Kokomo Symphony, and with fine choral ensembles. Dr. Woolston frequently collaborates with wonderful local musicians in recital, including with her husband, PJ, a bassoonist. A previous education director of the Indianapolis Opera, Dr. Woolston currently serves as the Indiana District Coordinator of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
