With almost a decade of experience in professional performance and teaching, Dr. Giovanna Yaqi Yang's education in vocal technique, voice science, and stage acting has given her a deep understanding of the voice's mechanics. Yaqi completed her Doctoral degree in voice performance at University of Miami, Frost school of music, and teaching active vocal studio in NYC. Additionally, Yaqi is one of the active judge in Progressive Musician's 2025 season Carnegie Hall audition in NYC. She strive to guide her students to discover their own voices, not just technically but emotionally. It's about helping them find their unique expression and to trust their abilities. Dr. Yang's comprehensive teaching philosophy emphasizes vocal pedagogy, enabling students to develop a deep awareness of their vocal instruments and proper technique. She value critical thinking and open communication in lessons, encouraging students to engage actively in their learning process.
As a professional classical singer, Ms. Yang had the privilege of performing in opera and concert settings across the country. She has been engaged by several opera companies including Florida Grand Opera, Music on site, Inc., etc. Yaqi had the honor of singing the leading role in the world premiere "The Leopard", an opera whose album was officially released by the premier classical label Naxos Records, and has been prepared for the nomination for Grammy award. Yaqi Yang's performing career has taken her to some of America's most prominent venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kimmel Center.
