Title: Voice teacher
Bio: Canadian soprano Caroline Holden holds performance degrees from McGill University and Manhattan School of Music, and is currently pursuing a BA in psychology at Montreal's Concordia University. As a student she twice received scholarships to attend the prestigious Aspen Music Festival, and appeared at the Aberdeen Music Festival in Scotland where she sang the Queen of the Night. A leading role in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra soon followed. She went on to sing numerous roles, including Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Elle in Poulenc's La Voix Humaine, and a lead role in the Canadian premiere of Jean Francaix’s Paris à Nous Deux. Ms. Holden has been a featured soloist with the Swiss Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mobile, the Montreal Chamber Orchestra, Les Jeunes Virtuoses, and Musica Camerata. She also collaborated with the Gisela Rocha dance company in the world premiere of “Itself” as part of the Zurich Festspiele. While in Switzerland she recorded an album of Purcell songs for the Montagsverlag label. With a desire to help singers recover from vocal strain, she became a Canstat certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. Ms. Holden strives to bring a balanced and holistic mind-body approach to singing, using hands-on work at every voice lesson.
