Bio: Mezzo-soprano Rachel Stenbuck is a native of the Raleigh area. Past soloist highlights include Mozart’s Requiem at Meredith College, Handel’s Messiah at Campbell University, with the Carolina Philharmonic, and with the Cary Community Choir. Additionally, she has been a soloist with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra in 2008, 2019, and 2023. Ms. Stenbuck appears regularly with the North Carolina Opera in the chorus and comprimario roles, including the company’s 2010 inaugural production of Tosca (Shepherd), and more recently, Rigoletto (Page), the 2019 reprise of Tosca (Shepherd), and Die Zauberflöte (3rd Spirit). As a part of the International Young Artists Project, she has performed the roles of Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte) in Varna, Bulgaria, and La Principessa (Suor Angelica) in Sansepolcro, Italy. An A.J. Fletcher Scholar, Ms. Stenbuck holds a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance (flute), a Bachelor of Arts in Music (voice), and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Meredith College, where she was a winner of the Concerto/Aria competition as both a flutist and vocalist. With 10 years of experience teaching PreK-12th general/choral music at area private schools, she owns Riversong Music Studio, LLC,​ a private studio in Cary, North Carolina, teaches voice in the music department of ​Meredith College, and coordinates the NC Opera Educational Outreach Program.
