Bio:

Laura's passion for performing and teaching many genres of music and extensive background in vocal pedagogy and habilitation make a unique addition to the voice community in Asheville, NC. Laura specializes in working with singers with vocal pathologies and trauma, guiding them as they habilitate and find more sustainable foundation for everyday use.

Recently serving on the voice faculties of CU Denver and UNC Greeley, Laura has had many opportunities to perform and sing abroad. In 2017-2018 she taught at the International College of Beijing in China, and frequently performs early music with Bachakademies throughout Germany. Laura holds a MM in Vocal Performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Certificate in Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech. Many different singing genres fill Laura's life as a performer; she often gigs with jazz combos or folk bands and frequently performs early music, both internationally and locally. She has had the pleasure of singing both in the choir or as a soloist with the Oregon Bach Festival choir, JSB International Bachakademie Stuttgart and Weimarer Bachkantaten-Akademie under conductors Helmut Rilling and Hans-Christoph Rademann in Europe, South America and Africa. In the US, she has sung with the Colorado Bach Ensemble, Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, St. Martin Chamber Choir, Anima, Cantabile, The King's Counterpoint and the Boulder Messiah Sing-Along. Favorite opera and musical theater credits include: Albert Herring (Mrs. Herring), Into the Woods (Baker's Wife), A Little Night Music (Charlotte), Godspell (Gilmer), The Cunning Little Vixen (Innkeeper's Wife), Dead Man Walking (Sister Lillianne), Medea (Medea) and Big River (Miss Watson).

Laura is new to the Charleston area and is thrilled to live so close to the beach with her husband and their Westie, Harvey.
