Title: Voice Teacher

Bio: Sarabeth Belón, a Southern California native, is a UCLA and USC alumnus. Sarabeth started with her very first operatic role at UCLA, playing the role of l’écureuil in L’enfant et les sortilèges. Soon after, she ventures into many different periods of music with roles in varying tessituras. At the Miami Music Festival, in two different seasons, Belón performed roles that show the strength of her voice in all tessituras. As Rebecca Nurse in The Crucible, she showed warmth in her voice, especially found in her middle and chest voice, which was praised by critics for the “color and character that is distinctive and memorable”. When she returned to the Miami Music Festival, she performed the role of the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos. The challenges of this role, are presented in the high tessitura, but Belón was praised for her stage presence and “sweet-toned, well-focused voice”. Belón then reached new heights with San Diego Opera as Madama in Maria de Buenos Aires and as a Handmaiden in Turandot. She continues to show her tessitura and repertoire versatility by singing the contralto role of Armindo in Partenope and then performing the role of Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. She finishes her 2018-2019 Season by singing as the 3rd maid in Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg, and finally as Olga in Opera Neo’s production of Eugene Onegin. Most recently, Sarabeth sings regularly with the Los Angeles Opera Chorus both as an ensemble member and as a soloist. However, her solo work is mainly heard in concert and oratorio works throughout California. She was last heard singing oratorio as the Alto Soloist with the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus in their performance of Rossini's Stabat Mater. Besides performing, Belón is a passionate music teacher. She is an adjunct lecturer in Vocal Performance at USC's School of Dramatic Arts. She also provides vocal lessons in Los Angeles to students of musical theater and classical styles. She believes in teaching a technique that frees the voice from tension and shows the natural capabilities of each voice.
