Job Description / Duties

The School of Theatre invites applications for a full-time Voice Teacher position in the nationally renowned Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Musical Theatre program. This is a one-year Fixed-Term position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The position will work with head of Musical Theatre, and other faculty, to continue to build on the Program’s many strengths in voice training for the musical theatre artist. Duties to primarily include teaching private voice to BFA musical theatre majors. In addition to teaching the technique surrounding the voice for musical theatre, there is an expectation that the studio time includes ear training, musicianship, and song interpretation. Classical repertoire and technique are also a part of the studio training. Other duties to include a variety of studio and coaching situations with BFA musical theatre students as well as teaching singing to BFA acting majors.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ideal candidate will have a passion for remaining current in the field regarding evolving styles, techniques, and voice pedagogy. Participation in student recruitment and other faculty activities is expected.

Qualifications include significant professional experience in teaching musical theatre singing - as well as professional experience singing musical theatre. Knowledge of all styles of musical theatre is expected – including pop, rock, country, and rap/spoken word. Candidate must have a comprehensive knowledge of the musical theatre repertoire and possess some piano skills. Evidence of equitable considerations, awareness, and practice with regard to curricula development, inclusive practices in educating diverse student bodies or working with a diverse faculty and staff, along with evidence of working collectively to cultivate a culture that supports success and enables all members of a college community to thrive.

A terminal degree is preferred. Salary commensurate with experience. This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Salary: $50,000-$58,000
