Voices from the Field - A Webpage Series Pilot Program

Collaborative Pianist Edition

NATS is launching a pilot program to develop a new Webpage Series concept called “Voices from the Field” which will be designed to welcome and support the many perspectives and lived experiences that shape the teaching of singing profession.

This new webpage series is launching with a focus on member testimonials and perspectives, beginning with collaborative pianists, an essential part of the vocal ecosystem whose artistry and partnership play a critical role in helping singers learn and grow. The accompanying testimonial form invites collaborative pianist members to share their lived experiences working in the music industry and with singers. These webpages create a home for curated knowledge where people can learn from one another!

A Broad and Connected Vocal Ecosystem

In support of the NATS vision, “Transforming lives through the power of singing,” we recognize that the teaching of singing and vocal pedagogy profession is grounded in a broad and interconnected ecosystem that extends beyond the private voice studio and college classroom. While NATS is built around voice teachers and singing educators, the field is also shaped by collaborative pianists, vocal coaches, composers, speech-language pathologists, laryngologists, voice scientists, emerging and pre-professional singers, and college students pursuing careers in music and vocal performance. Together, this community represents a wide range of pedagogical approaches, teaching methods, learning styles, vocal styles, and repertoire traditions from classical singing and musical theater to commercial music, contemporary vocal styles, and beyond.

The “Voices from the Field" Webpage Series concept is designed to provide visitors with a quick but meaningful “taste” of professional insight, lived experience, and artistic perspective through concise, curated content that is easy to browse and revisit over time. It is our hope that this project strengthens community and connection by creating opportunities for members to learn from one another.
