Bio:

Diane Owens, Soprano, has enjoyed an extensive career as a leading soprano, teacher, and vocologist/singing-voice specialist. Her singing has taken her to stages throughout the United States, Canada, and South America including those in New York, Pittsburgh, San Bernardino, Tucson, Chattanooga, Salt Lake City, Toronto, Miami, and Cleveland while performing opera, musical theatre, symphonic, and recital repertoire.

A gifted pedagogue, she has taught at the university level in many states (currently Creighton University), and is licensed to teach K-12 vocal music in Iowa. She also operates a private voice studio and vocology practice as part of her business, Diane Owens Voice, LLC.

Diane has received certification in voice science and habilitation in order to assist patients upon referral who have experienced voice injury attain greater efficiency and longevity. She is an Affiliate of the Board of Directors for the National Center for Voice and Speech and is committed to providing voice health education. Recent workshops include presenting state conferences for both the Iowa and Nebraska Music Education Associations and the Nebraska Choral Directors Association, teacher voice health workshops for Millard Public Schools, Elkhorn Public Schools, Westside Public Schools, Creighton University, University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a live webinar for the National Center for Voice and Speech. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, Bachelor of Music with Honors and High Distinction from the University of Iowa, and a Zertifikat in German language from the Goethe Institut in Germany.

Awards include multiple honors at the District and Regional levels from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the MacAllister Awards in Opera, two-time awardee for the national Bel Canto Competition, and the Tennessee Arts Commission’s Award in Voice.
