Bio:

Michele Capalbo is an international opera singer and certified teacher of the Alexander Technique (M AmSAT). With over twenty years of performance experience, a science based understanding of vocal pedagogy and anatomy, as well as an appreciation of the bel canto tradition; Michele’s aim is to help each student understand the function and artistic potential of their voice.

In 1999 Michele won the top prize in the Liederkranz Foundation awards in New York City, followed by the George London Foundation Canadian Singer Award in 2001. She is the recipient of multiple career grants from the Canada Council as well as the Vancouver Opera Guild.

In addition to Michele’s private teaching studio, she has been a visiting voice teacher at Baldwin Wallace University, and has taught the Alexander Technique to both singers and musicians at Universities across Canada. Michele has worked with the young professionals of the Calgary Opera Emerging Artists Program and is an active adjudicator and masterclass lecturer.

Michele’s repertoire interests include Opera, Symphonic Concert Repertoire for voice, Art Song, and classic Musical Theatre. She is currently working on an annotated catalogue of Canadian Art Song.
