She holds a master’s degree in classical singing from National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria (2015) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in music (classical vocal) from York University (2010). Sofia has been teaching voice to singers of all ages in various genres since 2010 and is a member of Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association. She believes that the combination of these elements allows singers to develop their own instrument and flourish in any genre. Sofia has been teaching private and group vocal lessons in various music schools throughout GTA until she established her own studio in 2015 that she currently runs. At her studio students study voice in private lessons but are encouraged to collaborate in duets and trios as well, learning how to perform in an ensemble and presenting their work at annual recitals and local festivals.

As a performer Sofia appeared in many art song recitals and operatic concerts, among them are performances with Sinfonietta Sofia and NMA orchestras, Song Cycles at the Czech Centre, solo appearance with Opera for All. She presented several solo recitals mostly dedicated to Russian music. Her love for Russian art songs classical and contemporary resulted in awards: Recognition Diploma from the Union of Russian Composers and a Special Award from the III International Vocal Competition Balkan Romansiada. Sofia’s operatic roles include Serpina in La Serva Padrona (2018), Second Wood Sprite in Rusalka (TSOW, 2018), Frasquita in Carmen (2017), Second Lady in The Magic Flute (TSOW, 2017), Tatiana in the excerpts of Eugene Onegin (2015). Sofia is always looking for opportunities to grow and develop as a performer.
