Title: Independent Voice Instructor

Bio: Mary McMurtery is the owner and founder of Radiant Voice Studio, located in Las Vegas, NV. New student inquiries are now being accepted at www.radiantvoicestudio.com. Ms. McMurtery also serves as an online voice instructor at Creative Music Learning Center of Richland, WA. She previously served as Adjunct Voice Instructor at Western Illinois University School of Music, and as Voice Instructor on faculty of the Community Music School at Western Illinois University. Ms. McMurtery currently serves as the NATS Las Vegas Chapter Secretary (2021-2023), was chosen as a 2020 recipient of the NATS Joan Frey Boytim Award for Independent Teachers, was selected for the inaugural 2019-2020 cohort of the NATS National Mentoring Initiative, and has been a member of NATS since 2014. She is a member of OPERA America, The SpeakEasy Cooperative, and is a certified Soma Yoga Instructor. Committed to continuing education, Ms. McMurtery is a Neuro-Vocal Method Certified Teacher with Meredith Colby (2022), and a Voice Body Connection Instructor-In-Training with Elissa Weinzimmer (2021-2022). Other recent trainings include completion of Release Your Voice with Elissa Weinzimmer (2020), How to Run Your Voice Biz Without Hating Your Boss with Michelle Markwart Deveaux (2020), and Estill Voice Training, Level 1 & Level 2, with Dr. Brian Winnie (2019). Recent performance engagements include as Matron/Townsperson/Chairwoman/Milkmaid in Lionel Bart's Oliver! (2019), and as an ensemble member in Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2018), both with WIU SummerStage; and as First Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Muddy River Opera Company in Quincy, IL (2018). Ms. McMurtery has appeared as soloist with the Monmouth Civic Orchestra, the McDonough Choral Society, the Galesburg Community Chorus, as well as guest artist on numerous concerts and recitals at WIU and locally in Macomb, IL. Operatic roles performed include Papagena (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercédès (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Studies abroad include Opera on the Avalon in St. John’s, Newfoundland (2010); the Florence Voice Seminar in Florence, Italy (2007 and 2005); and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany (2002). Ms. McMurtery holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University (2006) and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and German from DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana (2004).
