Bio: KATHRYN LANG - Mezzo-Soprano
Kathryn Lang is a professional singer and private vocal instructor in New Jersey. She has performed in opera houses and concert halls throughout the United States and Europe, including New York City Opera, Carnegie Hall, Austin Lyric Opera, Queens Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Ballet, Waco Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera, Chatham Opera, Luxembourg, and toured nationally with San Francisco Opera’s, Western Opera Theater.
She has performed such roles as Jade Boucher in Dead Man Walking, Flora in La Traviata, Maddelena in Rigoletto, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Dorabella in Cosí Fan Tutte, Sattirino in La Calisto, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos as well as a finalist in the Sylvia Getszy International Coloratura Competition in Luxembourg.
Ms. Lang received her Master's of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University where she studied with Costanza Cuccaro and was an Associate Instructor. She continued post graduate studies on full scholarship at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland. Recently studied for her New Jersey teaching certification at William Paterson University.
Kathryn has been teaching voice and sharing her passion of music with students for over 15 years. Currently she is teaching at Central Arts Academy in Summit. Previously she taught voice as an Affiliate Artist at Drew University, Associate Instructor of Voice at Indiana University, PeachCraft Conservatory, Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child and The Armstrong School of Music in Austin, TX.
She holds professional memberships in the National Association of Teachers of Singing and American Guild of Musical Artists.
Additional credits include the world premiere of the Man with the Blue Guitar with the Manhattan Contemporary Music Ensemble and the world premiere of Gauchito and the Pony with Queens Symphony Orchestra
